Making Food With The Digital Volcano Vaporizer

Article by Janet Fox

The Volcano, first copyrighted in 1996 by German Markus Storz as a “Hot Air Extraction Inhaler”, is right now becoming well-known as a kitchen appliance by “Supermodern” culinary chefs. Called the leading device that utilizes hot air to draw out scent from herbs, vegetation and seasoning, the Volcano vaporizer is being utilized to incorporate “flavor” to the dinner experience via the olfaction.

Genuinely, I’m unclear how “Supermodern” this is. Potato chip producers and fast food dining establishments have also made use of the same idea of “pumping out” scents. Ever heard of Glade? But, ok I get it. It’s like getting aromatherapy from my foodstuff.

How is this achieved??

If you’re not knowledgeable with the Volcano vaporizer, it is a brushed-aluminum cone formed air-heating device that is used to generate hot air to extract and include moisture from plants, herbs, flowers or spices. This wetness is known as smoke. The vapor is contained in a slender, light plastic bag named a “pillow”. This pillow has a pressure-sensitive control device that enables the smell to be launched from the pillow. The vapour is then used to add smell to cooking creations. Thought-about as relatively scientific to old-fashioned chefs, this course of action of adding smell to meals is more theoretically known as Molecular Gastronomy.

The Supermodern Chef

Utilizing what is known as an “Easy Valve Mixology Attachment” (generally a tube that can be connected to a great filling holding chamber), cooks like Francisco Migoya, of the Apple Pie Bakery Café, at the Culinary Institute of America, employ the Volcano vaporizer to add Cinnamon aroma to the packaging that consist of his Bacon Maple Candy Bar masterpieces. Once the bundle is opened up, the scent of fresh Cinnamon is discharged into the air. The candy bar itself is made up of no Cinnamon, but the sensation from the scent of the spice gives to the chocolate indulger’s experience. Surprisingly, the tongue can recognize only seven distinct tastes, while the nasal area can figure out over 700.

Other Supermodern culinary experts like Grant Achatz of Alinea restaurant are using the Volcano vaporizer to create “aroma pillows”. These pillows are being used to dispense scents during the dining encounter. Achatz had developed a method of emitting maize aroma into the air by poking small holes in pillows underneath the plates his braised duck.
According to the chef, the taste of maize is considered bitter and unpleasant, but the aroma is appealing and satisfying. This scent in the form of vapor gives the diner the adventure of the spice without the flavour.

The trend of “Supermodern” dishes and the trend of “Experience Design” are becoming notable in dining culture. The Volcano vaporizer has set the standard for “hot-air balloon” vaporizers, and is now setting the standard as a important culinary arts tool for creative forward-thinking cooks. The fine artisans of foodstuff are pushing the limitations of physical perception and human adventure in fine dining locations.

Kitchen Cooking
Am I Going To be utilizing the Volcano as a means to add smell-sations to my improbable grill cheese sandwiches? Possibly not! But for those of us who use the Volcano for Cannabis consumption, you can get your chief cook on as well. There are tested recipes online on how to use your herbal “leftovers” to create butter, for instance. With vaporizing, a extensive amount of moisture is extracted from the botanical herb, but a good quantity still remains once vapor can not any longer be extracted. Like to reuse? Me too. It’s what makes my grill cheese sandwiches so improbable. Butter baby.

Making Easy Cold Pumpkin Soup Meals Great

Article by Kc Kudra

If cold pumpkin soup sounds a little strange to you, you are not alone. Lots of people in the US have never encountered this cool, smooth treat, but they are missing out. If you have only every had pumpkin soup at Thanksgiving, you have never really experienced it. There are all kinds of soups from all over the world that you need to try.

Pumpkin soup can be a real treat, even if its color and texture look a little bit unusual. Many people do not get around to trying it because they are used to having pumpkins only in the form of pie, but this sweet, delicious food is something you should not allow yourself to miss out on.

Serve up your favorite pumpkin soup in bowls or mugs, cook it right in the pumpkin, or hollow out a pumpkin to serve as centerpiece and serving dish, too. Garnish with green onion, chopped parsley, or sweet spices like cloves and cinnamon. While your family might start out skeptical, they will end up loving this unique dish.

Pumpkin soups are not just creamy and tasty enough to make you come back for more. They are also packed full of vitamins A and C, iron, fiber and many other important nutrients. You will not feel like you have to virtuously eat your vegetables when you make pumpkin soup, however. Even the kids will love it.

Try a southeast Asian inspired pumpkin soup recipe easy and quick. With a little carrot and coconut, you have a spicy, exotic treat that is great served during those last hot late summer days, when pumpkins first appear at roadside stands. Of course, to try this soup when pumpkins are not in season, just used frozen or canned products.

The best kind of pumpkin to use for these soups is a small type, usually referred to as a pie pumpkin. Do not use a jack-o-lantern pumpkin! They are harder, woodier, and less flavorful than their smaller, sweeter, more tender cousins are. Pumpkins can be easily prepared for cooking by slicing them in half, cleaning out the seeds, and cutting them into smaller pieces.

Then, peel the pumpkin and compost the parings or save them for soup stock. Alternatively, boil or bake the pumpkin wedges to soften the flesh, and then scoop it right out of the skin once the pieces have cooled down. It is easier than peeling. You might want to mash or blend the pulp after cooking, no matter which method you use.

Savory ingredients like garlic and onion go very well in pumpkin soups. Make them creamy and rich with cream or dairy milk, or soy or coconut milk. Vegetable or chicken broth can be used instead of water in these soups. They add more flavor. Blend the soup partially or completely, depending on the texture you prefer, then chill your soup and serve.

Instructions for Making Crock Pot Handmade Soap

Article by Judi Cox

Making soap in a crock pot is an easy way to use the “hot process” method.

These instructions outline my steps for making crock pot soap and assume you are familiar with the soapmaking process.

Start with a good recipe. I prefer recipes that have a higher amount of liquid oil to solids. One of my favorite recipes is very simple: 60% Olive Oil, 20% Palm Kernel Oil, 20% Palm Oil. Run it through a lye calculator to determine the amount of lye and [distilled] water needed. I don’t discount my water when making hot process.

I use a 6 1/2 quart crock pot. A 4 pound batch of soaps fits perfectly. It fills the crock pot about half full – giving room in the case of it bubbling up, but not too little an amount that it could burn.

First, measure water and set aside.

Then measure the lye into a separate container. Slowly pour the lye into the pitcher of cold water. Stir until dissolved. Set aside in a safe place.

Once I have my lye mixture set aside, I measure my solid oils. These can be put into the crock pot to be melted. But, it takes longer this way, so I generally put them into the microwave for a couple minutes until melted and then pour into the crockpot.

At this point, my crock pot is on low.

I recomment using a good rubber spatula to scrape the bowl – no sense leaving any good oils behind.

Next, I measure my olive oil – and/or any other liquid oils I happen to be using – and pour this into the crockpot.

Get out your handy-dandy stickblender and using low speed, slowly pour the lye mixture into the melted oils. Gently move the stickblender around, up, down, around, ensuring a nice even blend. If you don’t have a stickblender, a stainless steel wire whisk works great too – just requires a little more arm power.

Once it has reached ‘trace’, I put the lid on the crockpot and turn the heat setting up to high. However, the first few times I made crock pot soap, I left it on low until I was confident in how it worked (both the soap AND my crockpot).

Now, I ready my mold, measure out any fragrance oils or essential oils and any additives I plan to use.

After about 15 or 20 minutes, I take the lid off and, using a potato masher, mash the soap around. It has a look of a vaseline texture; glossy, slick. It will have a waxy feel if you rub a piece of it between gloved fingers.

Add your additives, colorants, herbs, etc and mix well using the potato masher. Once that is blended fairly well, add your fragrance and mix again.

It is done! At this point, it’s really soap. It only needs to be put into your mold. I do this in large spoonfuls, pounding my mold on the counter every few scoops to ensure it packs into the mold tightly. Once I have it all in the mold, I put a baggie on my hand and flatten the top – making sure to “squish” it into the corners really well.

Now is a good time to wash all the dishes. And you don’t even need to add any soap! You should see some lovely lather from the soap you’ve just made.

I let this sit over-night. The next morning, I unmold and slice into bars to air out for a week or so. Once each bar has had time to harden, I bevel each one and it’s ready for use, or sale.

My favorite crock pot soap recipe:

Rosemary Mint Handmade Soap

Yields: 4 pounds

- 38 ounces olive oil (59.38%)

- 14.4 ounces palm kernel oil (22.5%)

- 11.6 ounces palm oil (18.13%)

- 8.7 ounces sodium hydroxide (5% discount)

- 17.5 ounces distilled water

- 3 ounces rosemary mint blend essential oils

- 2 teabags of Organic Peppermint tea

Disclaimer: Sodium Hydroxide is highly caustic and should be handled carefully and knowledgeably. It is the soapmakers responsibility to research safety procedures for soapmaking.

Beef Ribs: Making Delectable Ribs

Article by Philbert GTonkshire

Beef ribs are one of the most delicious and fun locations of the cow to eat. Picking the meat off the bones puts people into a feeding frenzy, it becomes near to a primal act as you rend the meat clean off the bones. Salty and sugar filled flavors in barbecue sauce only add to the tantalizing adventure. Grievously, lots of people do not experience the best that beef ribs have to provide in that they do not prepare them correctly.

The initial blunder that so many make is to treat ribs like a steak, quickly barbecuing them. Nearly all ribs sold happen to be taken from a heavily used area on the cow, making the meat being a great deal chewier than a couple other cuts. This may increase a great deal of flavor to the ribs, but additionally makes them a lot chewier unless they happen to be well cooked.

The most crucial thing to remember when cooking beef ribs is to spend the time, if you do not let ribs to cook for a couple hours, be willing for chewier, drier, and less flavorful meat. Cooking the meat for longer periods allows the fat to fully melt, releasing all of the juices into the meat. It additionally tenderizes the meat by breaking down the muscle tissue. This procedure results in moist, flavorful meat that is succulent and which readily melts in your mouth. While a quick run on the barbecue may make your jaw sore from all the masticating that is sure to follow.

Another key thing to keep in mind, not only when it comes to ribs, but any food choices in general is this: don’t be hesitant to leave the pack! You want to cook beef ribs the way they taste most desirable to you, not the means everyone else is accomplishing it. For example, in several rib cook-offs persons are penalized if the ribs are prepared to be so tender and luscious that they fall off the bone. Numerous rib restaurants additionally cook the same way, you need to violently tear the meat off the bone, getting meat stuck in between your teeth, and the meat itself is too tough. Also, a great deal of the meat nearest the bone may stick to the bone, and you won’t be able to get it!

I wish to go away from the grain, and you should to. Having tender ribs that fall off the bone is a joy and an indulgence to consume. Creating these ribs in a crock-pot and allowing them to simmer in their personal juices, will provide you instant gravy to pour over them. Simmering ribs will result in the most moist and tender ribs, for sure. It can likewise present you with marvelous beef stock for beef stews and soups in the future.

The different type of preparation I recommend is smoking. Smoking ribs should be done over the course of a few hours and the easiest means to smoke ribs is to purchase an electric smoker that is temperature regulated and has a timer. There is often a small drawer inside to place your hickory or mesquite wood. After that set the timer and a couple hours later, you are good to go. This allows you to have the invitingly smoky flavors infused into the ribs, and gives them enough time to cook and be tender.

Also, when it comes to spices and seasonings, do not be afraid to sample and look for your favorite. Although many rib enthusiasts act like you are a meat heathen if you utilize spices or sauces, these have become tools that only drive and embellish on the beef flavor. Although several human beings appear to enjoy Cattleman’s sauce, I found it to vinegary. My prized has to be Sweet Baby Ray’s, the perfect mixture of spices and sweetness. It adds a lightness to the heavy creamy taste of the ribs. Sometimes a good steak seasoning will build up salt and other flavors that likewise embellish the meat. So, when it comes to beef ribs, do not be hesitant to leave the pack, since in the end the flavor of the meat needs to be all that is important.

Tips to Making Your Crockpot Cooking Better

Tips To Making Your Crockpot Cooking Better
by: Jeff Jones

The crockpot may be the perfect cooking appliance for a new cook. It’s no wonder it’s become so popular in so many American Kitchens. You add the ingredients and turn it on. Let the slow cooker do the rest! Plus, it’s really hard to mess up a crockpot recipe.

Here are some tips to make your slow-cooking better.

The best crockpots have a removable liner. The crockpots that have built-in liners are very difficult to clean. You will enjoy cooking in an appliance that is easy to care for. There are many inexpensive models of crockpots available now.

Try to buy a crockpot that’s big enough to hold more than the normal amount of food you will need. That way, you’ll have extra capacity available when you need it unexpectedly.

Make sure not to over-fill the pot when you are adding ingredients. The experts recommend filling it between one-half to two-thirds full maximum. This will facilitate even cooking and avoid the mess when it bubbles over.

Many crockpot recipes call for some sort of meat. Some of the best pot roasts and chicken dishes I’ve had have come from a crockpot! Remember when slow cooking meat to trim off excess fat. Due to the prolonged cooking in a slow cooker, that excess fat can really get cooked in giving your dish an odd taste.

No matter how good the meal starts to smell resist the temptation to open the lid. Each time you do, heat escapes, and the cooker will take longer to finish your meal. The ingredients at the bottom will cook faster than those on top, but it is not necessary to stir as often as you would a stove-top recipe. Keep that lid on except when it is absolutely necessary to stir your recipe.

As for cooking time as directed by recipes – keep in mind that one hour on high in a crockpot is equal to about 2 hours on low. If your slow cooker recipe calls for a four-hour cook time on high, but you want to eat in eight hours, cook your dish on low.

Crockpot cooking can be easy, fun and really tasty. Check out our assortment of crockpot cookers at http://www.searchkitchenappliances.com/Small-Kitchen-Appliances/Cookers-Steamers

Easy Cooking Methods for Making Tasty Stew

Article by KC Kudra

You might have already tried making a chicken stew recipe or something similar and, if you did, the odds are that you used a saucepan on the stove. This is the most common way of making chicken stew but you can use a dutch oven or a slow cooker for stew recipes too.

Dutch Oven Stew Cooking Tips

A dutch oven, which is also known as a stockpot, casserole or french oven, is a handy addition to the kitchen. A dutch oven is thicker and heavier than a stockpot, which means it can conduct heat more effectively and distribute it throughout the food with ease. You can use a dutch oven to make braised meals, pot roasts, stews and much more. You can sear food in the dutch oven on the stove and then put the whole thing in the oven to finish cooking. You can boil pasta or rice in a dutch oven and they are good for deep frying because of their high sides.

If you want to use a dutch oven to make stew, you can brown the chicken or meat in the dutch oven on the stove. Meat brown quickly in a dutch oven and you can brown more at one time than if you use a smaller pot. You can cook the stew on the stove or in the oven because dutch oven cooking is versatile.

Cast iron is a good choice for a dutch oven but iron does react with some foods. Some dutch oven manufacturers put a layer of enamel on the iron and others preseason the pots by spraying oil into them and baking it on. It is possible to erode the preseasoning away, making enamel the best choice.

Crockpot Cooking Tips for Stew

You can use a crockpot, or slow cooker, to make tasty stew recipes. Making a stew in a crockpot is very easy. You need to sear your chicken or meat to seal the juices inside, add the rest of the ingredients, and cook it on a medium setting for five hours or so or on a low setting for eight hours.

A stew cooked in a slow cooker will be very tender, the meat will be falling apart, and the ingredients will combine their flavors perfectly.

If you are out working all day, why not use a slow cooker for making your dinner? You might like your chicken stew spicy or mild but whichever type of stew you prefer, a crockpot is the ideal way to make sure your dinner is ready for you when you get home. It might only take an hour or two to make a stew in a normal pan but, when you are ready to eat, a slow cooker delivers the goods instantly.

A slow cooker is a good investment because there are many different meals you can make in it. If you have never used one before, it is easy to learn. A crockpot will come with basic cooking tips and instructions so you can start making delicious meals in it right away.
