Salad Recipes – Florida Turkey Salad and Oriental Beef Salad

Article by Sophia Truman

Salad recipes are really versatile and you can basically make a salad out of almost everything. Popular ones are the chicken salad recipe, the world wide famous potato salad recipe, salad shrimp recipes and finally the quick and easy pasta salad recipe. Lets take a look at two of my favorite salads:

Florida turkey salad and Oriental beef salad.

Florida Turkey Salad

Adding fruit to a salad is very popular in the USA. In this recipe, we will combine oranges combined with simple but delicious turkey, succulent bacon and watercress.

This dish serves 4 people and it should be ready in about 15 minutes. If you prefer the chicken then replace turkey for chicken breast.

Ingredients:

450 grams turkey (cooked breast)

2 Florida oranges

A handful of watercress

4 spring onions

4 tbs vinaigrette dressing

The juice of half an orange

1 tbsp fresh basil

2 Rasher lean back bacon

Salt and pepper

Optional – pineapple juice

Grill the rasher lean bacon in the oven.

Cut the already cooked turkey into very thin slices – or if you prefer, into small chunks – and place them in a bowl.

Cut the peel and white pith from the Florida oranges to expose the flesh and carefully remove all the segments by cutting in with the knife between all the different dividngs. You will end up with lots of orange segments and there should not be any pith or skin (this is very important, the skin or an orange is really bitter).

Add the segments to the bowl where you placed the turkey and add also the watercress.

Chop the spring onions and add them to the bowl too. Toss.

Mix the vinaigrette with the juice of half an orange and season with salt and pepper. I sometimes add pineapple juice which gives it a rich flavor. Gently toss the salad as you add the ingredients.

To serve, garnish with the basil leaves (chopped) and the grilled bacon cut into small pieces.

Oriental Beef Salad

This oriental beef salad consists of the typical Thai flavors – chilis, lime, ginger and coriander. Unlike most salads it is served warm and it is very important that this salad is eaten immediately before it starts to cool!

Ingredients

450 grams sirloin steaks

2 tbs soy sauce

1 garlic clove2 red Thai chilis

1 small piece fresh root ginger

The juice of 2 limes

4 spring onions

1 lettuce

1 red pepper

Half an onion

Half a cucumber

1 tsp toasted sesame seeds

(For the dressing)

The juice of 1 lime

2 tbsp soy sauce

1 chili

1 tsp honey

Place the steaks in a dish. Mix the soy sauce with the ginger, chilies and garlic. Add the lime juice and marinade the steaks with this mixture. Place in the fridge for at least half an hour but overnight is better.

Grill the steaks with the marinade sauce until cooked to your taste and cut into slices. Make sure it keeps warm.

Mix the pepper, half the onion, chopped lettuce, chopped cucumber and the coriander leaves in a salad bowl. Add the steak slices.

Blend all the ingredients for the dressing together as we will use it to pour over the salad. Toss.

This dish serves 4 people and should be done in around 20 to 25 minutes including the marinade sauce.

These are great salads, easy to make and also very healthy. Try them at home and impress your family.

An Easy Quick Recipe for Dinner Tonight– Beef Stroganoff

Article by Diane Watkins

It seems that when its time to cook dinner, easy quick recipe ideas are hard to find. The secret to getting dinner on the table fast is planning ahead and keeping an arsenal of easy quick recipe ideas for those busy days.

This dinner menu features a beef stroganoff recipe that can be on the table in less than 20 minutes. Start the noodles first, because they take the longer to cook than this Stroganoff. You want to use a tender piece of beef, cut across the grain to make sure the meat is tender. You could also use a pound of ground beef instead of the minute steaks. Just brown the beef, then finish this easy quick recipe as directed.

Sour cream is traditional in this dish, but yogurt offers a lower fat option. The flavor will be a little tangy, but delicious. You could also use a fat free sour cream. Be sure to only warm the sauce after the sour cream or yogurt is added, boiling will separate the cream and the texture of the sauce will not be rich and creamy as it should be. This easy quick dinner recipe is perfect on a busy night. Serve with hot buttered noodles and perhaps a salad or green vegetable.

Quick Beef Stroganoff

3 minute steaks, cut into 1/2 inch strips

2 Tablespoons oil

1 onion, sliced

1 clove garlic, crushed (optional)

1 can cream of mushroom soup

1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

3 ounce can of mushrooms

2 Tablespoons catsup

2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce

Brown the steak strips in the oil. Add the onion and garlic. Stir fry for 5 minutes until onion is translucent. Combine remaining ingredients, add to meat. Heat on low temperature until flavors blend. (Do not boil.) Serve this easy quick Beef Stroganoff over buttered noodles.

Beef Ribs: Making Delectable Ribs

Article by Philbert GTonkshire

Beef ribs are one of the most delicious and fun locations of the cow to eat. Picking the meat off the bones puts people into a feeding frenzy, it becomes near to a primal act as you rend the meat clean off the bones. Salty and sugar filled flavors in barbecue sauce only add to the tantalizing adventure. Grievously, lots of people do not experience the best that beef ribs have to provide in that they do not prepare them correctly.

The initial blunder that so many make is to treat ribs like a steak, quickly barbecuing them. Nearly all ribs sold happen to be taken from a heavily used area on the cow, making the meat being a great deal chewier than a couple other cuts. This may increase a great deal of flavor to the ribs, but additionally makes them a lot chewier unless they happen to be well cooked.

The most crucial thing to remember when cooking beef ribs is to spend the time, if you do not let ribs to cook for a couple hours, be willing for chewier, drier, and less flavorful meat. Cooking the meat for longer periods allows the fat to fully melt, releasing all of the juices into the meat. It additionally tenderizes the meat by breaking down the muscle tissue. This procedure results in moist, flavorful meat that is succulent and which readily melts in your mouth. While a quick run on the barbecue may make your jaw sore from all the masticating that is sure to follow.

Another key thing to keep in mind, not only when it comes to ribs, but any food choices in general is this: don’t be hesitant to leave the pack! You want to cook beef ribs the way they taste most desirable to you, not the means everyone else is accomplishing it. For example, in several rib cook-offs persons are penalized if the ribs are prepared to be so tender and luscious that they fall off the bone. Numerous rib restaurants additionally cook the same way, you need to violently tear the meat off the bone, getting meat stuck in between your teeth, and the meat itself is too tough. Also, a great deal of the meat nearest the bone may stick to the bone, and you won’t be able to get it!

I wish to go away from the grain, and you should to. Having tender ribs that fall off the bone is a joy and an indulgence to consume. Creating these ribs in a crock-pot and allowing them to simmer in their personal juices, will provide you instant gravy to pour over them. Simmering ribs will result in the most moist and tender ribs, for sure. It can likewise present you with marvelous beef stock for beef stews and soups in the future.

The different type of preparation I recommend is smoking. Smoking ribs should be done over the course of a few hours and the easiest means to smoke ribs is to purchase an electric smoker that is temperature regulated and has a timer. There is often a small drawer inside to place your hickory or mesquite wood. After that set the timer and a couple hours later, you are good to go. This allows you to have the invitingly smoky flavors infused into the ribs, and gives them enough time to cook and be tender.

Also, when it comes to spices and seasonings, do not be afraid to sample and look for your favorite. Although many rib enthusiasts act like you are a meat heathen if you utilize spices or sauces, these have become tools that only drive and embellish on the beef flavor. Although several human beings appear to enjoy Cattleman’s sauce, I found it to vinegary. My prized has to be Sweet Baby Ray’s, the perfect mixture of spices and sweetness. It adds a lightness to the heavy creamy taste of the ribs. Sometimes a good steak seasoning will build up salt and other flavors that likewise embellish the meat. So, when it comes to beef ribs, do not be hesitant to leave the pack, since in the end the flavor of the meat needs to be all that is important.

Crock Full of Beef

Article by Dusty Patterson

Not every day is a beautiful sunny weekend afternoon when you have the whole day to laze around and pamper a piece of meat to barbecued perfection.

There are plenty of rainy Mondays, tests on Tuesdays, wild and wet Wednesdays, jam-packed Thursdays, and frantic Fridays to go through before you get to the next lazy day.

In fact, most days of the week have us running around trying to meet impossible work, school and play schedules which make it difficult to find ten minutes to wolf down a sandwich, let alone ten hours to barbecue a roast of beast.

But that’s no reason why you can’t be enjoying great barbecue even when you’re at your busiest! Meet the crock pot, savior of the busy people of the world!

The crock pot is the busy person’s best friend and right hand man (woman,) always working with you, never against you, and couldn’t care less about what the weather’s doing outside.

The beauty of the crock pot is that it can be stocked in the morning and left to its own devices all day. No babysitting required. And by the time you drag your sore body home at the end of a hectic day, your crock pot will greet you with a ready-to-serve home-cooked meal!

If you’re curious to test the servitude of your crock pot, here’s a quick (prep time wise) and easy recipe for barbecue beef.

Crock Full of Beef

4lb roast of beef

2 tbsp cooking oil

1 large onion, peeled and sliced

1/2 cup water

5 cloves of garlic, peeled

1tsp salt

1tsp ground black pepper

2 cups of your favorite barbecue sauce

Add cooking oil to frying pan over medium-high heat. Brown the meat on all sides. Remove from heat.

To stock your pot, add 1/2 of the sliced onion to the bottom of the pot. Place the browned roast on top of the onion. Add the water, garlic cloves, salt and pepper and the remaining onion.

Cover and set timer according to the length of your work day for a minimum 4-6 hours or maximum 8-10 hours. The longer you work, the better your roast will be!

Fast forward 6-10 hours…

Welcome home! Supper’s almost ready!

Remove the roast from your trusty crock pot and discard the juices. Shred the meat using a fork and return it to the crock pot.

Add the barbecue sauce and cook on high for another 30-60 minutes, or the amount of time it takes to change into something comfortable and check a day’s worth of emails.

Once the last email is answered, you will have yourself one happy crock full of tasty beef!

Serve it over rice or pasta, or make a gourmet sloppy joe and serve it up on a fresh bun.

For an easy all-purpose barbecue sauce, which tastes great with beef, pork or chicken, here’s one of my favorites from “Barbecue Secrets Revealed”!.

The sauce can be made ahead of time and stored either in the refrigerator or freezer in an airtight container.

Amazing All Purpose Barbecue Sauce

1 cup Catsup

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

2 dashes Bottled hot pepper sauce

1 cup Water

1/4 cup Vinegar

1 tbsp Brown sugar

1 tsp Salt

1 tsp Celery seed

1 tbsp Minced onions

Combine ingredients in slow-cooking pot. Cover and cook over low heat 2 to 3 hours.

Makes 2 to 2 1/4 cups sauce.

Happy smokin’!

Chinese Beef Recipes

Article by Jamie Hanson

Chinese stir fry is an incredible cooking method to cook food at high temperature. Stir frying is a speedy paced cooking while not overcooking the meal, which can lead to lost of vitamins and minerals. With high heat over a wok, stir-frying gives the recipe a delightful “wok hei” smell as well as retain the natural flavor of the food.

Chinese food is really popular in my family especially stir fried cuisines. Beef-broccoli is the most adored, a favorite American Chinese dish. The broccoli’s crispiness paired with tasty sliced beef tenderloins flavored with garlic-ginger sauce has satisfied the palate of many.

It is easy to prepare Chinese beef-broccoli stir fry at home. Cooking the beef-broccoli isn’t that complicated. Just don’t forget that stir frying is a fast paced cooking and so requires a high heat stove in order to replicate the kind of taste you get in restaurants that you’ve grown to love. It’s economical to prepare a home made beef-broccoli stir fried and you don’t need to bother about preservatives or msg added in like what you would get in Chinese restaurants. It’s a healthy and great dish to serve your family and guest.

What we will require:

1 pound thinly sliced beef sirloin
One pound broccoli florets,
3 tablespoons cooking oil to stir fry beef
Three tablespoons cooking oil to stir fry beef and broccoli
1 piece onion, diced
One tablespoon garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, chopped

For the Marinade:
One tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
one tbs rice wine
One tbs cornstarch
ground white pepper (about a dash of it)
1 tbs soy sauce (dark)
1/2 tsp garlic powder

For the Sauce:
2 tbs oyster sauce
2 tbs dark soya sauce

To thicken the consistency:
One fourth cup of chicken stock
1 tsp cornstarch

Preparation procedure:

Get a mixing bowl and marinade the beef with vegetable oil, white pepper, garlic powder, salt, cornstarch, soya sauce and rice wine. Keep it in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes

In a smaller bowl, mix the ingredients for the sauce then put aside. Get a separate bowl to mix the chicken stock and cornstarch.

Boil water in a cooking pot. Sprinkle 1 tsp of salt, then add the broccoli florets. Let it to be cooked properly for just two minutes. Then switch off the flame and drain excess water to prevent it from overcooking. Set aside.

Now take a wok, pour 3 tablespoons of cooking oil and heat it. Toss in the marinated meat and stir fry for a quick 3 minutes until its brown. Remove and keep aside.

Add in three tablespoons of oil in hot wok. Put in the chopped onion, garlic and ginger. Mix for a minute and put in the beef, broccoli and the sauce mixture. Stir it for another minute until the aroma of your ingredients comes out. Put the corn starch mixture to give the sauce a thick consistency. Once you have mixed the sauce well, turn off the flame and serve hot with freshly cooked rice.
